Works Social signs up first dedicated-desk and team members...

May 28, 2019

Works Social, the new contemporary coworking concept in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market has welcomed a raft of new members into its dedicated desk and coworking space this month. The doors officially opened on 1st May 2019 and the team have been inundated with requests from independent businesses and freelancers wanting to join the #workspacerevolution.

Taking over the airy apex on the top floor are the teams from start up engineering consultancy, Dice and the architectural practice Cleveley King. On floors two and three, marketing and PR freelancer Big Old House has taken up residence alongside low carbon technology experts Onroute.io, SAP data management specialist Proceed Group and freelance designers Grand Creative and picturethis.studio. A number of other businesses are set to move in over the coming weeks.

Wayne Oakes, founder and Director of ambitious engineering consultancy Dice, which has rapidly expanded since starting up 12 months ago, said:

“We are very happy for the team to be in Works Social. It felt like an obvious step for us in our growth. The flexibility of the membership options gives us a chance to build the team in a new and professional environment, while providing a springboard for the next phase – investing in a dedicated premises of our own.”

Cleveley King Architects is an ambitious and enthusiastic practice that has been working remotely since the company’s inception in 2016. With plans to expand and further establish roots in Nottingham City Centre, Works Social offers a great fit. Jamie King, Partner & Architect at Cleveley King Architects commented:

“Following our first three years’ success, we felt that Works Social provided a perfect step-up for the company. There is a great energy and community being built at Works Social which we enjoy being a part of. The dedicated desks and use of shared facilities bridges the gap between remote working and a private office, but provides so much more than that. Nottingham has a great energy, and it’s exciting to see so many small businesses growing alongside us.”

Onroute.io’s team is also looking to rapidly expand the range of features it offers to Electric Vehicle Chargepoint installers. With the community of talented individuals and business that are making Works Social their home, Director Neil Simpson is looking forward to partnering with other businesses to support growth, saying:

“The huge growth of the Electric Vehicle market means that to keep pace with changes, we have an opportunity to really grow. We’ll be able to call on this network of experience to support our own goals and will hopefully be in a position to support the other businesses here as well. I’m also very pleased that the Works Social team are doing everything they can to make this workspace carbon neutral and environmentally friendly too!”

Richard McBurney, Designer and Director of branding and design specialists, Grand Creative Limited, added:

“Works Social provides a unique environment that is perfect to share with like-minded small businesses and freelancers! A friendly, relaxed and professional space with all the facilities I need that are ideal for my design business to thrive.”

Dedicated desks are available from £200 per calendar month and the initial demand has been overwhelming says Works Social co-founder Han van Oudheusden:

“The feedback we’ve had has been fantastic. We’re running opening evenings every two weeks and so far we’ve had people sign up on every one. At the moment we are focusing on 24/7 dedicated desk space and virtual address memberships and by June we hope to roll out the virtual plus membership which includes 9-5pm hotdesking. We’ve already got a waiting list, so it is very exciting to see the community coming together.”

With three floors dedicated to communal desk space, hot-desking areas, shared facilities and personal lockers, the ground floor offers a bookable meeting room space, chillout areas, a cosy outdoor terrace and an honesty bar. Members can use the ground floor space for their own staff party once a year as part of their membership or it can be booked for external events, training courses and networking.

A range of membership options are available from annual virtual office arrangements to monthly membership packages for independent workers, teams and pairs of freelancers.
