Getting active and going green @ Works Social

March 11, 2020

Here at Works Social, sustainability in all aspects of of our business is really important to us, that includes encouraging sustainable habits and practices to the members of our coworking community 💚

Through Nottingham City Council’s Workplace Travel Scheme we’re grateful to have been introduced to charities Ridewise UK and Sustrans, two amazing organisations encouraging multimodal transport across Nottingham for the greater, greener good!

Helping us to organise a Members Active Travel event at our coworking space in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, Gina from Ridewise UK organised for Dr Bike to come and set-up a pop-up repair shop in our outdoor terrace. Members were able to book in their bicycles for some two-wheeled TLC and get expert advice from bike mechanic and all-round enthusiast, Tristan.

For cyclists and non-cyclists alike, Joss from Sustrans came along to talk to our members about how they could think about planning a greener, healthier commute, including alternative transport and route planning, money saving schemes and generous freebies including bike lights, locks and various high vis swag!

Han van Oudheusden, co-founder of Works Social said:

"This combined initiative is a win-win way of encouraging communities of people to embed physical activity into their daily routine for their own health benefit whilst prioritising consideration of the environment in their regular travel choices, we’re super grateful to Ridewise and Sustrans for coming along to our space and donating their time and expertise to us!"
